Miyamura, Kazuha (Tao)

Kazuha is a Tokyo native multimedia artist who blends tradition and modernity. He aims to reconnect viewers with their childhood innocence and spread the appreciation of frogs around the world. Kazuha is also passionate about reconnecting with his Japanese heritage, and is especially interested in preserving the art of Kimono by reinventing it through a modern lens.

Why Frogs?

My fascination for frogs began when I was a small child. I would read books like “The Adventures of Frog and Toad.” I also loved reading educational science books, often featuring facts about frogs and their life cycles. By some stroke of fate, one day, when visiting my grandmother’s house, I discovered a patch of frog eggs in the creek near her house. Against her protests, I insisted on scooping them into a paper cup and taking them home. From there, I put them all in a clear plastic container and left them out on the balcony of my family’s apartment. I watched them hatch into tadpoles and grow legs until, one day, they were all gone. Frogs have always been one of my favorite animals. To put it plain and simple, they are cute. They are simple, blob-like creatures that can swim and hop and don’t do much besides eat and croak. With how busy working life gets, sometimes I wish that was all I had to do in a day. When looking into a frog’s eyes, I cannot help but feel it is sharing that peace with me.
