Authenticity serves as the cornerstone of my artistic pursuit as a photographer. Driven by the desire to capture genuine moments that evoke real emotions, I aim to immerse viewers fully in the essence of each captured instance. Whether focusing my lens on individuals or landscapes, my goal is to preserve their true essence without the imposition of artificiality. The Bahamas, with its vibrant culture and stunning scenery, often features prominently in my work, reflecting both my personal and artistic journey.

Initially, my subconscious gravitation towards Bahamian themes stemmed from a profound exploration of my own identity. Growing up, I grappled with uncertainty regarding my cultural heritage. However, as I matured, embracing my Bahamian roots became a source of solace and empowerment. Thus, my photographic journey evolved into a medium through which I celebrate and reconnect with the vibrant authenticity of Bahamian life.

In capturing images, I intentionally refrain from instructing subjects to pose for the camera. Instead, I seek to capture candid moments in everyday life, believing that these unfiltered glimpses offer a more authentic and relatable perspective for viewers. This approach not only preserves the genuine essence of the moment but also fosters a deeper connection between the audience and the captured scene. Through my photography, I aim to evoke a sense of familiarity and resonance, inviting viewers to reconnect with their own experiences and emotions. Each photograph becomes a portal through which viewers can transport themselves back to the moment it was taken, reliving the sights, sounds, and emotions captured within the frame. In essence, my journey as a photographer is a testament to the transformative power of embracing one’s cultural identity and celebrating authenticity.

About myself

As an artist, I believe in the power of creativity to express the depths of human experience and emotion. While music, literature, and other forms of expression have their place, art is my chosen medium for sharing my innermost thoughts and feelings. I am a beacon of positivity, and my artwork reflects this with vibrant colors and lively compositions that uplift and inspire viewers.

My journey as an artist began with a focus on my roots in the Bahamas, a theme that has remained central to my work. Initially, I struggled with feelings of inadequacy as a biracial individual in Japan, but through my art, I have found strength in embracing my cultural heritage. By sharing the beauty of the Bahamas and infusing my work with positive energy, I seek to effect positive change and foster meaningful dialogue within society.

Authenticity is important in my artwork. I strive to depict both the beauty and the struggles of the places and people I represent, providing viewers with a more nuanced understanding of the world around them. By highlighting the reality of life in the Bahamas, I aim to cultivate appreciation and empathy among my audience.

Looking ahead I envision myself as visionary artist using creativity as a catalyst for personal growth and social transformation. While I see myself continuing to create art as a hobby, I also aspire to explore opportunities in the fashion industry, drawing inspiration from my experiences as a model. Collaborations will be key to my future endeavors, as I seek to exchange ideas and perspectives with other artists and create works that resonate on a profound level.

Ultimately, my goal is to continue evolving as an artist and as an individual, pushing the boundaries of my creativity and deepening the connection between my artwork and its audience. Through a lifelong commitment to learning, self-reflection, and creative exploration, I eagerly anticipate the journey of artistic discovery that lies ahead.
